The current rise of the European FAR right; why it's happening and how to fight it.

Think about what we have as common class experiences (i.e. our relationship to the means of production...or our means of existence) as well as common cultural, social, ethic and other experiences...we may find that our ability to sustain and recreate ourselves (to live and have kids) enables to identify and work with each other.

Cheers - Louis MacNeice

ECJ playing top trumps over QE sovereignty with nation states won't help. German nationalism is about to go nuts.

Democratic accountability is still rooted to Nation state geography, the over arching pan EUropean systems only pay lip service to democracy. Its the detachment of the public from the levers of power that will be a major driving force.

Show a bit of anti-capitalist solidarity. Stress the fact that capital dominates, determines, distorts and ultimately destroys the lives of EVERYONE in our society--even its alleged "owners." Them most of all.

The fuck?

The rise of the right is occurring for much the same reason it did in the 30's; the prevailing order has discredited itself, and people are looking for answers as to how things can be fixed. The "dirty foreigners" argument is easy, and indeed lazy, but it is an "answer" that many are willing to believe.

Probably not the only answer but I really think that educating people and constantly challenging the narrative so that racists know that they are alone. They don't exist in a vacuum and get part of their strength from people who tacitly accept racist assumptions about Eastern Europeans, people who practise Islam and the effects of immigration on an economy etc. They need to know that they are isolated.

That's more from the perspective of this country, I don't think the European far right is commonly thought to really include Britain so much? I assume you're talking about more hardcore organisations (I don't know the names of so many). I mean, we have the EDL but the far right in this country is pretty "Four Lions" as far as I'm concerned. And thought UKIP have pretty distasteful views they're still a mainstream party.

So I guess, getting educated as well about who the far right are and how they operate would be good.

You're talking about the far right? Or just the right? I've just realised I might have got the wrong end of the stick a bit.

Although brown people committing atrocties has to be the best recruiting sgt ever :(
Fortunatly the uk far right couldnt orgainse a piss up in a brewery :D

The parliamentary right and the far right are not unrelated. A parliamentary party that wins elections by, say, opposing immigration, opens up space for essentialist arguments about race. This is why it is deadly dangerous to think, as apparently many in both in the Conservative and Labour parties do, that they can somehow draw the sting of race politics by "having the debate" on immigration etc.

I have heard Harvey and Dorling pushing the same schtick. It's just so offensive.

Not so easily,this time around!

I was talking to a German mate about Pegida tonight, and he reckons Dresden had always been a bit backward, never got foreign broadcasts in the valley during the DDR times and is now full of ignorant tossers who blame the rest of the world for their ills. The number of foreigners who actually live in Dresden is marginal, the number of muslims is infinitesimally small. Backwards cunts who haven't caught up with modernity.

It would be quicker to name those that haven't. Especially if they've come into money in their own lifetime, like the "stars" of our "entertainment" industry. They are disproportionately mad and degenerate.

But that isn't what I meant. I meant to point out that capital is, by its very nature, the opposite of human life. So its malignity is exercised on all humans-- its owners most of all.

You must really love it then eh?

And yes, they are fucking thick. Have they not read any German history books? Has nobody mentioned to them who they resemble?

through the introduction of a class analysis into, showing fears to be largely baseless but taking the concerns seriously. not by acting like a bourgeois wanker and hardening their attitudes which would be the result of your sneery wank.

You are personally going to visit Dresden and talk to the marchers on a one to one basis? Viel gluck, du verdammte trottel.

But by acting instead like yourself, which is guaranteed to force any interlocutor into opposing anything you claim to stand for.
