We'll be presenting a programme of superb music for all to enjoy throughout the day at Great British Carnival in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday July 27, from 12noon to 9.30pm.
There will be three separate stages hosting a selection of the best and brightest music and performance from the UK Carnival scene.
Artistes performing on the day include:
Rhythms of the City – an infectious fusion of funk, soul, Motown…and samba! Rhythms of the City are the UK's premier samba percussion squad where drummers, singers, dancers, horns and guitars combine in a unique spectacle of up to 75 performers.
Their team performs not only authentic carnival samba, but many other funky styles (salsa, soca, reggae, funk, hiphop) with passion and energy.
RotC averages 90-100 shows per year at carnivals, festivals and clubs across the UK and in Europe - appearances include: Notting Hill Carnival, Thames Festival, Womad, Glastonbury, Big Chill, Respect, Fruitstock, Lovebox, Wireless, Pride, Olympic Park, Emirates Stadium, O2, Eden Project, Cargo, Shepherd's Bush Empire, Twickenham and many, many more.
Paraiso School of Samba – authentic Brazilian samba school with eye-catching costumes based in London. Paraíso School of Samba is the only organisation in the UK whose artistic direction is by artists who grew up in the Rio de Janeiro samba community and which closely follows the authentic Brazilian School of Samba structure. They focus on percussion, music, dance, carnival & costume design, costume & float construction, dance and bateria (Percussion) workshops, education projects, shows and carnivals.
