Solo Records

a big bowl of wrong
Was reading an interview with Paul Oakenfold in this week's Time Out and he said that he used to buy records from a place called Solo Records which was tucked inside Brixton tube station. Obviously long gone and before my time, but does anyone remember it and if so, where abouts was it?

Part of the old arcade?

Might be some pics on eds site of what it looked like before.

You googled for it?

I seem to remember a record shop inside Brixton tube when I used to go to gigs at Brixton Academy as a teenager. IIRC, it would have been where the newsagents is now.

i'm pretty sure it was in the arcade down the side of the tube

Did that get ripped out in the renovations then? Kinda liked the idea of a record shop in a tube station....ticket, check, paper, check, white label, check

The new one is nearly open. If you walk past the tube station on Electric Lane you can see into it at the moment.

I'm pretty sure it was at the bottom of the stairs to the right. It was enclosed in glass

Or am I imagining that?
