Our opening night at The Crypt went brilliantly - a fantastic turn out, a lovely atmosphere, and some wonderful moments on the dancefloor. But that doesn't mean that we're home and dry - now we have to show that the opening night wasn't a fluke, and that we can do this every month. So please come along and make our second night at The Crypt every bit as good as the first.
The venue itself is real gem. A jazz club in the crypt underneath St Giles church on Camberwell Church Street, it's a beautiful, atmospheric, and ever so slightly eccentric space which feels like it could have featured on the second side of "Tigermilk". It's 150 capacity, with a cool dancefloor, lots of interesting nooks and crannies for talking in, and a great private garden for the smokers. Best of all, the layout of the club means that even when it's sold out, there's still plenty of space to dance, chat, and generally hang out.
Photos of our opening night are here - how does it feel to be loved? - london club night playing indie pop, northern soul, tamla motown, girl groups, sixties heartbreak
Our guest DJs this month are David and Franic of The Wave Pictures, who'll be playing their usual floor-filling mix of indiepop, soul, rock'n'roll, rhythm'n'blues and whatever else takes their fancy. After the November date, The Crypt will decide whether they'd like HDIF to be a regular event. The first Saturday in December is already booked so if we do go monthly at the Crypt it will be from next February onwards.
Usual admission of £4 for members and £6 for non-members. Club will run from 9pm - 2am. Advance tickets here - WeGotTickets - Your Online Box Office - THE WAVE PICTURES DJ AT HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE LOVED? AT THE CRYPT
