RAF intercept Russian plane over Kent, explosion heard

RAF Typhoon aircraft were launched from RAF Coningsby this afternoon to intercept a civilian aircraft that was causing concern to civil air traffic control. The aircraft was escorted safey to Stansted. During the operation, the aircraft were cleared to travel at supersonic speed - we apologise for any inconvenience or concern this may have caused.

So plane was heading for London but incommunicado, jets scrambled and escorted it to Stansted. It's a Latvian military cargo plane. All a bit wtf :hmm:

disgusted to see Crabs apologising for creating a sonic boom while chasing errant aircraft.

do rozzers or the Fire Brigade apologise for their blue lights? did the Royal Artillery anti-aircraft batteries apologise to Londoners for all the anti-social noise they made while filling sky with 3.7inch shells to provide the Luftwaffe with a warm welcome?

one imagines disgusted of Tunbridge Wells would whinge like shit if the RAF had chosen not to turn up... NIMBY cunts.

Sky News were playing recording of RAF pilot's radio warning to plane that they would shoot if orders not followed - and you could tell he meant it

good to see Sky's defence correspondant earning their money.

caption says 'two Typhoons were scrambled'. picture shows a 30 year old Tornado bomber taking off in the desert.... i suppose i could see how confusing it must be - both aircraft are grey...

second picture/video 'the RAF response in detail' shows a USAF F-22. an aircraft the RAF has never and will never fly, and one that looks nothing like anything the RAF flies.

Indeed, but then they have always been useless - them claiming that a helicopter striking a crane in epically thick fog over Vauxhall one morning might be terrorist-related, on the sole basis that the crane was a couple hundred of metres away from MI6, being one of their better ones.
