(Prepare for) A Mighty Upsurge

belboid

Exasperated, not angry.
In class struggle, oh yes. Any time now, it's really going to happen. It must be about to, I just read about it in Proletarian Democracy. At least, you'd think it was in PD, but actually it's the SP. There conference report back is just the most hilarious, utterly delusional, read you'll have this year. Whether it's the 'mighty upsurge in class struggle' about to happen or the claim that TUSC are about to breakthrough because a second bloke got elected unopposed in Maltby. Pretty much every section has something completely barking in it. Almost definitely no talk of intersectinality tho, as the pics are all of white blokes (and the blessed Hannah).

This enormous inequality is accumulating a mass of socially combustible material in Britain. But it hasn't yet ignited, largely due to the role of the right-wing trade union leaders in holding back workers' struggles; not least in blocking the call for a 24-hour general strike. The absence of widespread strikes has led to a "sullen anger" among the organised working class. But this won't last.

that fucking 24-hour general strike again

but if all 300 delegates voted on it, it must be true

Even the upwardly mobile young things can't afford to buy houses these days. These bitter, disillusioned traditional fledgling tory voters will be joining us in 'the struggle'. We are on our way folks.

the claim that TUSC are about to breakthrough because a second bloke got elected unopposed in Maltby.

Cringe inducing as I agree the piece is (and as all such pieces always are, no matter who they come from - bet the ISN's one is amazing!) no such claim - nor anything vaguely resembling it - is actually made is it?

He pointed to the unopposed election of the second TUSC Maltby town councillor, Shaun Barratt, to highlight that even in the most unlikely places we can find forums to fight the cuts.

It doesn't really matter anyway. Only a minority of SP members will bother to read it, nevermind non-members.

This was my favourite bit:

the ISN one (its up on the site somewhere) is...amusing. It even admits the motions being passed are crap!

Maltby tho...sorry, but getting a couple of seats on a parish council dont really amount to much. I men,its nice, but...

Taffee doesn't use Maltby as some shining example though. He points out the situation CWI organisations have positioned themselves to take advantage of in Greece, in the US, in South Africa. The view is a bit bigger than the 'end of your street in sheffield' you take.

It won't stop Belboid making shite up though
nothing will stop you're lot from talking shite it appears! sorry den, but the whole thing is ludicrously overoptimistic nonsense.

I dont take an 'end of my street' view, I simply look at the balance of class forces in this country and around the world. I could go on about you backing Green candidates in the US, voting with the union leaders you condemn for not calling a 24 hour general strike, in SA, where your main insight seems to have come from a bloke on holiday...
