More Tips from McDonald's on How to Live on Poverty Wages

Some of you may recall McDonald's efforts to help their employees budget. It included a second fulltime job, and left out things like water/sewer or childcare costs. So they've added a few more tips to help us all out:

"Selling some of your unwanted possessions on eBay or Craigslist could bring in some quick cash," the McResource presentation reportedly said. ...

Low Pay Is Not OK also criticizes McDonald's for saying "breaking food into smaller pieces often results in eating less and still feeling full" and suggesting that employees, most of whom are on hourly wage schedules, try to take at least two vacations per year.

Another tip from McResource supposedly tells employees to "Stop complaining. Stress hormones rise by 15% after 10 minutes of complaining."

My favorite was the suggestion to take 2 vacations a year. With no holiday pay and no money to do anything? Please.

And spitting on drinks and rubbing their crotch in the meat are excellent stress relievers. They should all start doing that across all locations.

It's bad enough they treat all employers like first job teens, do they have to be dicks about it? That thing is starting to look like "Lifehacks: how to survive with minimum wage by Ezra J. VandenBigbucks IV, Esq."

They missed a few:

* Sleep on a space heater because it's nearly December and there's no heat.

* Wash clothes in a sink.

* work a job in food service and sneak food out the back.

* stuff plastic bags in the hole in the roof to keep the rain out.

* shoot cockroaches with rubberbands for entertainment.

* skip medical care for a few decades.....

Why, that only affects the customers, and do you think the bastards give a shit about them either?
They will, imagine the PR disaster that would be if every week there were stories about orgies with McD buns on most locations :D

Also, I was being a facetious about that. But f they're really serious with "don't worry, be happy" as a solution to employer problems, using company products directed for consumers as masturbatory aid in order to relieve stress can't be that far off.

making it so that theres no wall between the kitchen and the counter was an ingenious move...i wonder if stopping this was the inspiration

When they say 'two vacations per year' - they don't stipulate how long, nor do they say paid vacations.

And no guarantee of a job when you got back. My memory of jobs like that is that they give you three points. Each day you miss, sick or not, is a point. Each day you come in even a minute late, its 1/2 a point. Three points and yer gone.

Maybe in the states. I dont think that could happen in the UK?

"A combination of factors has led us to re-evaluate and we've directed the vendor to take down the website. Between links to irrelevant or outdated information, along with outside groups taking elements out of context, this created unwarranted scrutiny and inappropriate commentary. None of this helps our McDonald's team members."

Or their profit margin.

This is the hilarious kicker:

The fast food giant found itself again having to deflect unwanted attention from its internal site this week after CNBC reported that McResource ostensibly advises McDonald's employees to not eat at McDonald's.

"Fast foods are quick, reasonably priced, and readily available alternatives to home cooking. While convenient and economical for a busy lifestyle, fast foods are typically high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar, and salt and may put people at risk for becoming overweight."

Good advice.:D
