co-op
But....but cLoWnFiSh....
Just got this email - it's self-explanatory. There's a demo at 12.15 tomorrow outside a house where viewings are due to take place pre-auction, it could really make a difference if a few people show up. Even a quick half hour would help - and I say this knowing I can't be there, simply can't.
Lambeth Council is trying to evict tenants in all its short-life properties
to sell them off on the private market. One area targeted is Rectory Gardens
in Clapham Old Town.
The first of the houses in this community is down to be sold at auction next
week with a reserve of £450,000. It is viewing at the moment.
Rectory Gardens Community Housing and Lambeth Save Our Services are
protesting tomorrow outside one of these viewings, making the point that
council owned housing should not be sold to the private market.
Many residents have lived and repaired these houses for 30 or 40 years and
are now threatened with eviction. Join the protest tomorrow:
Wednesday 31st October, 12.15-2.00pm Rectory Gardens, Clapham SW4 (nearest
tube Clapham Common)
Bring banners and posters if you can:

Message from CO-OP campaign :
"It's ridiculous isn't it, after 25-30 years or more?"
"Why don't they just give you tenancies?"
"They could have handled this in a better way."
"I'd rather be dealing with Westminster, at least they are honest
about being nasty."
Dear Lambeth Council,
These quotes were taken down at recent auction viewings from the very
people you are trying to sell our co-op homes to!
Embarrassing, isn't it?
Don't shoot the messenger though, we're ready to negotiate a common
sense, co-op settlement and, as ever, we look forward to hearing the
same from you.
All the best,
