January 2013 Photo Competition: Renew

New Year means new beginnings. As always, theme open to personal interpretation
Entries:

• It is encouraged, but not essential, that people enter new photos
• Up to 3 pictures allowed per person
• Last entry at midnight 31st Jan 2013
• Only use pictures you photographed yourself
• If you edit the picture then it'd be nice if you tell us what you did
• Please don’t change pictures once you have entered them.

Voting:

• 1st Feb 2013 to midnight on 3rd Feb
• Anyone can vote. You don't have to have entered
• Vote for your 1st, 2nd and 3rd favourites
• 1st choice is worth 3 points, 2nd choice is worth 2 points and 3rd choice is worth 1 point
• The entry with the most points wins, and chooses the next theme.

1. This ended up on my instagram. I was at work at the time. Renew, as the palm in the foreground is no longer a full palm. It was rotting on the top, so they cut it. I like how it looks a bit weird now, against the others in the background. Edit on this, was adjusting contrast levels. Taken on iPhone 4, on 21 January 2013.

ahhhh I wish I was this good, though a new years resolution was to get more proficient on the SLR, so going to use this thread and subsequent as stimulus.

One thought however.... is it an idea to upload a pic per post.....For example from a layman I love the swans though not the banana

Thanks, I know what you mean about one photo per post and clicking the like button when you don't like all the shots but it doesn't really matter in the competition as you get a chance to vote at the end by putting the names of just the photos you like the best so it all works out.
Also I think the competitions on here are fair and don't always go to the most technically proficient shots.
For me it is just for fun and gives me a bit of pleasure in sharing a hobby.
So the more entries the better

Have you ever been on the Amateur Photographer Magazine forum? They would put you off entering anything good or bad. Similar story with my local photography club. They do not understand the nature the beast

Sometimes the worst photographs deserve to win because they are so bad
