Fantasy Football League 2012-13

juice_terry

Here is a man who would not take it anymore.
It's that time of year again folks. Will there be bargain signings to have from the new boys Southampton, Reading and West Ham ? Will Newcastle provide us with some hidden gems such as Cisse to redeem our teams come January? Will the big money signings such as Van Persie and Kompany be worth including ?

To join this years League http://fantasy.premierleague.com entry code for URBAN 75 league is:
37080-12400

Good Luck !!!

May I perhaps use this as an opportunity for seeing if there are any takers for my experimental low-scoring league?

Obviously you'd need to create another team under a new account. But the idea is to get as low a total point tally as possible. Entrants must have a team of at least £85 million value and cannot have players with long-term injuries/absence (ie those marked red). You also can't dock points by making more than your permitted number of transfers.

As you can expect, a bit of self-regulating sportsmanship is expected, but I did a small experimental league of this kind with some friends at the end of last season and it got seriously intense. Yellow cards, substitutions, the margin for victory can be so tight.

I'm in - the official league, not the low scoring one!

A lot about the transfers at the moment. RVP would look better value in Manchester, Moses better at Chelsea - if he got a starting place.

I have no idea why Chelsea are interested in Moses. They've just signed 3 new midfielders. Lukaku could be an outside bet though if he goes to Fulham on loan...

Anyway, I'm in :)

Just noticed that Chelsea have a double game week in week 1 - Wigan and Reading. Reading play twice too.

Could be a flying start for some fantasy teams.

I noticed that.

How's about a H2H :) ?

I usually start a H2H league. They don't seem to auto renew like the standard leagues.

2 years ago I included a play-off in the H2H. I was miles ahead in the league but got knocked out in the first play-off game.

So last year I didn't include a playoff and I was stuck in second, just unable to catch the leader.

Overall I think the experience of getting beaten in a play-off after leading by miles was the more annoying experience. So I don't think I'll include one this time.

So. Who thinks they have found a cheeky bargain?

I always start really badly - in tribute to David Moyes.

Traditionally I pick:

- some overpriced Chelsea winger who scores a spectacular goal in preseason then doesn't make the starting lineup
- a couple of cheap midfielders from the newly promoted teams, who turn out to be shit
- a cheap Man U defender who doesn't play
- an expensive defender who lets in 3 and gets booked
- Robin van Persie, who saves me from complete disaster

This year it's going to be different! I may not buy van Persie.

I seem to be in two Urban 75 leagues?

The person who sets up a 'normal' league can choose to renew it each year. You get a choice - renew or delete. The person who set up the league last year has obv chosen to renew the league. Which means we now have two.

I'm gonna leave last year's league and just stay in the one on this thread.

This seems like a very familiar strategy to me. ;)
And, I've still picked RvP... at the moment.

I'm in for the HTH too.
