Duvet upgrades?

Sunray

Its sunny somewhere.
I was getting fed up with the weight of my synthetic duvet and wanted a down one. Never had one before due to allergy concerns but I don't really think I am allergic to them, it was a dust thing when I was young.

I love sleeping in comfort, mainly as I love sleeping, so no expense spared. These things last ages anyway. I looked at the Ikea web site and was startled to see that their top duvet is double the price of the one below it 140 quid compared to 70. The addition of silk into the outer makes me think, given that I'd be using a duvet cover, that its just pointless extravagance.

Do people think that that its worth the extra cash?

Down duvets are wicked. They can be expensive but if you look out for sales at places like John Lewis, you can pick up a lovely kingsize down duvet for a reasonable price. We got a winter (high tog) one a few years ago when we were living in the draftiest hippy house on earth, and it's pure magic :)

You never regret spending money on duvets or pillows IMO - buy the best you can afford.

But yeah, if you can hold on til January I'd wait for the sales in the big department stores, or else try one of these big factory clearance type places.

Think I bought our down one from Argos some years ago, 15 tog(no heating upstairs and wiondow always open) about £50/60. Tis ace.
