I like to do it the night before so I can have a longer lie in or read the paper / internet with a coffee before I trot off to work. Tomorrow I shall be having a poncey pasta salad thing with loads of onions and garlic and a bit of couscous to make up for the lack of pasta (stodgie as fuck but nice cold) a good chunk of homemade lemon drizzle cake and a egg, mayonaise, onion and tomato roll for mid morning (always get hungry around 10 then again at 1).

Sometimes I just go to the shop or the pub but mostly I make my own bait.

Are you talking about making your own lunch? Back when I was a labourer, I made it the night before, so I could just grab it and dash out the door. Now, I buy my lunch every day.:)

I wonder how a sandwhich became a piece. I'm originally from Scotland and never questioned it till I left? Anyone use the 'ben the living room' for 'in the living room'. I miss that phrase...:)

I make my lunch in the morning. When I work 7-3 I usually make a salad sandwich which I have with crisps and fruit. In colder months it's usually homemade soup.

Jesus.

I mean it isn't bait, it's piece. As in: "Did you bring a piece?" "No I'm going to have a deep fried, battered pizza".

Oh right

That must be a Scottish thing. I thought bait was universal too but it appears not - Johnny got waht I meant though. Lunch!

My lunch is often last night's leftovers. I can't be doing with making myself sandwiches and so on.

I do make soup for lunch though sometimes. The night before. I'm not a mentallist who gets up to make soup at 6am.

"Bait"??

Piece yes, bait no.

Even if "bait" made any sense, "put up your bait up" still wouldn't.

This thread is a disaster and I'm refusing to vote.

Another vote for 'Bait? Surely you mean piece?'

Of course those three votes come from Scots so it 'just' might be regional. :)

Personally I've given up on 'piece' so if I did make my own I'd have 'lunch'.

If I'm taking leftovers then I generally put them in a tub in the morning otherwise I go to the shop.

We've got a fridge at work so I often buy rolls and cheese or something like that and leave it in the fridge or recently I've just been having toasted pitta bread and salsa for lunch.

It's definetly regional. Not even sure if a piece is nationwide up here.
Where does a piece = a snap?? Sure I've heard your lunch/dinner called that.

Will ye no come ben the hoose fer a wee piece?

:D

My other half bakes the pasty in the morning fresh so that it is still hot when she comes around to throw it down the tin mine for me. Once she forgot to mark the end so I found myself eating the jam end before the meat end.
