Beautiful Days 2012

Teaboy

It definitely looks brighter over there..
Its the tenth anniversary this year which is a pretty decent accomplishment given the difficulty some of the other smaller festivals have had.

I really enjoyed last year which in part was due to the great weather and as ever the atmosphere, of course Carter helped.

Who's going this year? Ticket prices have suddenly got a bit sharp mind.

Haven't been since 2007. Not a huge Levellers fan & 3 out of the 4 times I went were wash outs. But with so many glowing reports the last couple of years it's definitely on the list for 2012.

I think the weather makes a massive difference to this festival, there just isnt enough to keep you entertained if you have to shelter for long periods. Last year was probably the best festival weather I've seen in years, nice cool mornings with warm sunny afternoons and only one small shower.

Apart from Thursday night. Weirdest weather ever. Freezing mist and the coldest I have ever been camping, especially at a festival in August  Was lovely rest of the weekend though :)

And you can pop out for a cream tea!

Oh yeah, forgot about Thursday evening. You're right though, one of the coldest nights I've experienced at a festival I think I woke up wearing virtually every item of clothing I'd brought with me. It was great after that though.

Im trying to decide whether I should go this year. I'd only work if i did.

It would mean sleeping in my camper 6 weekends in a row.

BD will very certainly be on our well filled 2012 festlist, as ever :)

I've even managed to persuade my elder brother to think about BD!!!

He really really doesn't do fests, apart from the Cambridge Folk, 10 mins walk from where he lives (he performs there every year with his folkie muso mates)

Well I went to HIS FORTIETH birthday party in CB a good while back ;), so he can bloody well make the effort to come to a new fest to him, a week ahead of my big 5 Oh BD and BD, this August .....

He's lovely though, seriously. We'll show him around the site properly, and explain to him what nice cool friendly fests are all about. He doesn't really know.

Yet! :D ;)

Apparently the first acts will be announced on 1st March, given its the 10th birthday I'm expecting to see some very familiar names, whether thats a good or bad thing is another matter.

Headliners just announced and in a move that has literally rocked the music world to it's foundations the Levs are headlining Sunday night.

Equally shocking are the additions of PIL, NMA, Frank Turner and Jethro Tull to the bill.

Well it is the tenth birthday, so hey why break the tradition of the underwhelming line-up?

Line up so far:
Public Image Limited, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Levellers, Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson plays Thick as a Brick, Midlake, Richard Thompson, The Waterboys, New Model Army, Bellowhead, Inspiral Carpets, Alabama 3, Reel Big Fish, Dreadzone, Billy Bragg celebrates Woody Guthrie’s 100th Birthday, The King Blues, Simon & Oscar from Ocean Colour Scene (Acoustic), Chris Wood, The Skints, 3 Daft Monkeys, Emily Barker & The Red Clay Halo, Larkin Poe, The Peatbog Faeries, The Travelling Band

You can ignore Dreadzone though should you so wish. Plenty do :p :D

Personally I think there's some excellent stuff on that list. We'll be booking this weekend, but we would have done anyway, BD's an annual fixture for us now.

Tickets now bought. Blimey, that was a faint-inducing cost  , but we've taken the hit now. I'm sure once we're there we'll mostly have forgotten the ticket price, and we'll have a fantastic time as ever no doubt! :)

We might be going to this one too now, just waiting on hearing back from some friends. Not been since 2006, has it changed much?

Not vastly ..... one or two of the venues might have moved position since then, but the general vibe is still the same.

And the reasonably priced Otter Ales from down the road are still all present and correct :D

Will be good to see you there, hope you make it :)

Dance? I'll be doing fucking cartwheels. That's if I get out of the van this year.
I'll need video evidence obv.

Oh, and if you get the chance can you tell the nobend frontman from Bellowhead that prancing around and gurning like some musical version of Basil Fawlty is neither big nor clever.
