Alastair Reynolds - Terminal World.

It's a bit shit isn't it?

Perhaps it's because his other work is so good but Terminal world comes across as sci-fi by numbers pap. I've given up on it for the time being and gone back to reading some stephen baxter.

Anyone else read it/tried to read it?

Urgh. Just finished "On the Steel Breeze". Even worse. Blue remembered earth was ok-ish and I didn't hate it but this was terrible.

Cardboard cutout characters, stifled dialogue and an awful, nonsensical plot. Worst of all it was boring. Barely made it few and ended up skimming the last third or so.

Boo hiss etc.
