Its packed up a ton of rave reviews, runs a full version of Windows, has a good battery life (9hrs+) and it looks to be an amazing machine for the price of £349. It even runs Photoshop reasonably well.

Anyone tempted?

As for the Transformer Book T100 itself, it’s everything you could ask from a compact, go-anywhere hybrid, and it’s ludicrously affordable. Snap one up while you can – we predict these will sell out fast

The Asus Transformer Book T100 is a tablet that leaves out frilly features in order to bring the Transformer form to Windows with zero impact on cost. And what has resulted is a bit of a hit. If a tablet-laptop Windows 8 hybrid is what you’re after, you can’t do any better at the price.

Oh, and you get Microsoft Office 2013 Home & Student Edition (worth £99) thrown in for free, too.

Looks like thats what I'll be upgrading my TF301 to then, but might be a year or two as I do like making things last

Here's another rave review.
It uses a 1.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 CPU, which is from the new Bay Trail generation of processors. It’s much, much faster than the equivalent Clover Trail chip of last year. Our PC Mark benchmark shows that it can compete with last-gen Intel Core i3 processors, although naturally not this year’s Haswell models. For a low-cost laptop, the level of power on tap is just ok, but for a tablet the Asus Transformer Book T100 is very, very powerful.

It comes out with 2330 PC Mark 07 points. That’s very close to the Intel Core i3-powered ‘normal’ laptop that sells for up to £500. Not bad eh? However, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 scored 4,853 points – in another league altogether.

In more practical terms, this means that the T100 is perfect for everyday uses. It doesn’t suffer from the jerkiness of some other low-end Windows tablets, and can run taxing programs like Photoshop without grinding to a halt. However, this is not a performance machine. As well as a fairly low-cost processor, the Asus Transformer Book T100 has just 2GB of RAM – not enough for serious multitasking. A result of this is that programmes still take a while to load.

The Asus Transformer Book T100 comes with Office Home & Student edition pre-installed (usually missing from non-Windows RT tablets). A version of Office is included as standard with Windows RT, but not with ‘full’ Windows, so it’s a great inclusion.
Add in 12 hours battery life and you've got a bargain.

If this had a decent screen resoution (and lack of win7 option) I would be truly speechless, tho for 349 it's arguably the best value device I've seen in recent memory.

The micro usb chargepoint alone may be the killer thing that makes me get one, and give Win 8 a real Go. Just how shit can it (Win 8) be??! (Previous goes of it have reduced me to tears...)

I am ready to buy.

To have a little thing like this ready to do an entire days work on the street after a single charge has got me above many other things. Screen resolution is more than adequate for me. I waste so much time waiting around after batteries die. 6, or even 9 possible extra hours will be brilliant. It could pay for itself within a week (well, it's a good theory...).

Any good recommendations for online orders from UK to send to Spain?

Ooh, there's a tempting new model on the horizon;
Like we were expecting, the new ASUS Transformer Book T200 does arrive with a larger 11.6-inch display, but disappointingly there’s no resolution bump, at least to full HD levels. According to sources familiar with the matter, the resolution remains the standard 1366 x 769 pixels.

We also have confirmation that the hybrid will be available in two versions, one with 32GB of internal storage and one with 64GB. The German publication also says ASUS is planning to roll out models with 500GB hard drive embedded in the dock and, unlike the T100, this option will be available from the get-go.

Other functionalities include USB 3.0, probably living in the keyboard dock, like the Bluetooth 4.0 and HDMI out port.

In the hardware department, we’re going to see the T200 arrive with an Intel Atom Z3775 with four 1.46GHz cores that can be bumped up to 2.39GHz if more power is needed. The tablet will be fitted with 2GB of RAM, so there’s no change compared to the predecessor.

The default operating system is 32-bit Windows 8.1. There is some good news in the pricing department, as it appears the 32GB version with 500GB hard drive in the dock will be marketed for $399 / €399.

Ooh, there's a tempting new model on the horizon;
Hrmm I think I will be looking for a new computer in a few months. I was planning to replace my laptop with a desktop but I am now tempted by one of these. How feasible is it to have one as your main computer? Do they work OK with USB devices like external hard drives?

Should do - it's a Windows 8.1 device.

I think I'm going to get one of these for my mother in law. I've been reading and watching all the reviews and it looks pretty damn good for the price, and I've seen it for as low as $329 here which seems like a bargain.

I understand that the supplied usb power lead is pretty short so it might be worth investing in a longer one. Is that correct? Mini USB to USB right, like mobile phones? Is there anything else worth adding onto it?

It'll work but don't expect it to be as fast as a desktop. You're effectively looking at a 5 year old laptop (equivalent)) processor there. Fine for most things but it'll struggle if you want loads of browser tabs / windows open and or many applications at the same time.

That's not to say it can't be used as a desktop replacement but it wouldn't cut it for me.

I got one a month ago for £299.00. It is good value for money considering the software included. Have not come across any problems so far.

Yeah I am basically considering two contradictory options. On the one hand I could go desktop to get get the maximum bang for my buck, or get something along these lines and end up with something no better than what I am using now, just newer. I think the appeal of one of these is would mean I don't have to worry about replacing my 3 year old nexus tablet on top. Plus the new gadget factor.

Can those who have one confirm that the supplied USB power lead is pretty short and it's worth getting a longer one if you won't want to be tied to the wall all the time? Micro USB to 2.0 is ok?

Yes it does have a short lead & is a Micro USB 2.0 but the battery life is good. I seem to get a good ten hours out of it.

lead is about 80cm at a guess. skyscraper101

Has anyone had a problem on these with the time it takes to load pages? I get onto google quickly but then anything past that takes ages or just fails to load.
